Chromebooks Have Arrived!
On March 12 our initial shipment of 100 Chromebooks arrived at MASH. By the time you read this, we will have opened, processed and entered each into the management system. You will also have had hands-on time during in-service. Remember to call for help when you are ready to start sharing docs with classes or posting assignments.
You do not need a Chromebook to work in Gaggle/Google tools. Labs and desktops computers can also use these tools.
Schedule Chromebooks to use in the classroom.
1) Tell the library staff the hours and number of Chromebooks you need
2) Give us at least overnight warning for charging batteries
3) Have a plan for orderly distribution and return to the cart
4) COUNT Chromebooks at the end of each hour, before students leave the room
5) Proper shut down is a two-step process: Sign off @ lower right; shut down @ lower left

Video Tapes
Social Studies teachers have finished weeding the VHS collection and we are moving on to Science. Please stop by and select any VHS tapes you use or would like to use in the future. If we cannot find the title in DVD, we will retain the VHS tapes.
Farewell
After 31 years of working with you working at MASH, I am looking forward to my retirement. Thanks for the memories. I will continue to substitute teach, so you have not quite seen the last of me.
This is what 39 years of teaching will do to you! Note the addition of bifocals and the white hair!

Inventory
|
We recently completed an inventory of all barcoded items in our collection and found 50 titles were missing. Within one week of finalizing the work, 12 missing titles have been returned. If you see or have any of the books from the list, please contact the library staff. We recently updated our circulation system and hope this will correct a scanning error that may be to blame.

Budget Time
The MASH Library staff is beginning to work on needs for 2015-2016. Your ideas are always welcome. Let us know if we need to add new materials to help meet your classroom needs.

AV2
Our AV2 book collection has been expanded. These lower level reading titles are great for struggling readers as they provide a website that offers audio, video and text enhancements. Special Education staff are encouraged to take a look. They are shelved in the Reference collection near the faculty library. Please see the library staff if you have questions or would like to learn more about AV2 books.

Video Tapes
With the addition of Safari Montage at MASH, the library media center is reviewing the VHS collection. We have pulled video tapes that are duplicated on Safari Montage and will be contacting you by department to consider replacing videos that are still valuable with DVD versions.

Selection Activities
Students enjoyed library book selection activities in the past few weeks. Freshmen tried Speed Dating for books, Sophomores sampled titles in a Book Buffet by genre and Juniors visited a Book Bistro of non-fiction. Each activity provided time to sample pre-selected titles, practice book selection techniques, find books to read now and later and enjoy food.

New Materials
Watch for a cart or basket of new materials moving through your department. Take a look at what we ordered and keep anything you would like to use right now. Just email the barcode (T number on the front cover) to Jessica for check out.
Keep the cart/basket moving along and return to the Library as directed on the routing slip.

Freshmen Orientation
All freshmen visited the Library Media Center in September with their English classes. They completed a scavenger hunt to become familiar with the location of resources and should be able to locate books by using the card catalog.
Works Cited
Please require a Works Cited document for all images and information on projects and papers in every class. Pat will be happy to teach a Works Cited refresher lesson, edit/proofread the document with each student and grade the page. Our common Works Cited Rubrics are found below and on the Library Media Center Teacher Page. (MEL-Con Rubric are there, too)
